I went for the NUSSU Appreciation Dinner and had fun. I was sitting with William, Jean Bean, Windy, WP, Dannish, TY, Moses and Aaron at one table while the others (Kang Wei, Yu Ting, Stan, Shuyun, Kenny & gf, Caine and the Campus Supplies bosses) were at another one.

The food was filling (ala wedding feast style) and if the $1000/table price tag is to be believed, doesn’t really feel it’s worth it lah. Our appetisers were sushi, jellyfish, yam rolls and cold prawns. We also had tofu + crab, stir-fried venison, steamed fish, noodles (very delicious stuff), roast chicken. To end off, we had red bean soup (which was quite rich instead of the thin stuff you get cheap). The drinks were free flow and our dear friend Aaron had either whiskey or vodka. Hahah… Personally, I passed on the alcohol since I’m not particularly fond of it.

Yi Han was at a vegetarian table and he said that there was a mix of people, one from the Registrar, another from OSA and so on.

When I got there at first, I couldn’t recognize anyone >_< This is why people need to meet up beforehand!

My stupid dress kept slipping, gah. I should really find a way to keep it up. Double-sided tape? Sometimes I wobble on my heels. I hope I didn't look too awful walking around in it today.

The drinks got progressively diluted as the night went on. By the end of it, it was super blah. We had the option of orange juice, coke, sprite, whiskey or vodka mix.

We had mostly China Chinese waiters who couldn't understand English well. I was kinda surprised one of them didn't understand 'coke' until one of his colleagues gave him a hint. Aaron asked one of the guys how old he was and he said he was 20. I thought the waitresses all looked super young. Also, they seemed to be really new at it since they didn't have the practised movements of those aunties you see in Chinese restaurants.

NUSSU SAVE and PRU tried to sing Michael Jackson's "Heal the World". Saejan told me that they were actually going to sing the Ktv version but it seems that someone (rightly) feared that they wouldn't know when to come in/the words. So I guess it could have been a lot worse.

At one point when they played the video for Project Nargsi (helping tsunami victims), the wedding banquet next door had their YAM SING. Imagine the solemn silence broken by the celebratory sounds next door. Hahah.

Yee Han looks nice in a suit. He has ashke's stamp of approval. The 2nd nicest one is Aaron, I think. Aaron gets a sticker. The SDE president at the next table also looked yummy. ^_^ Actually, the whole (male) table next door looked yummy. LOL. All 美男, so nice to have some eyecandy next door. Hahah.

Too many people I didn't know went up on stage to collect their awards. Ah well.

Tim was there too but I didn't see him! I only found out after the whole thing, pffft.

I was at the toilet and was quite surprised at the queue when I opened the door. The auntie who came behind me was quite chatty and mistook me for someone from the wedding banquet next door. One of my more interesting toilet breaks.

My junior said she didn't recognize me at first when I waved to her. I wonder if that's a good or bad thing...

Moses was there! So long never see him!

Poor Shuyun's hand was cold when I shook it. >_< Next time must bring a jacket!

I think we were quite camwhorish towards the end of the whole thing. For instance, JB had to ask who won the best comm award and we left our red bean soup untouched until the boss (Yee Han) went on stage to give a speech. Uber fun.

So glad I avoided the F1 crowd. When I passed by Raffles Hotel, there were tons of people on the curb at 11.30pm. Also, F1 sucks because I couldn't take my direct bus (since it was not running a service) but had to do a transfer. Pfft.

When I was transferring in Katong, there were quite a few groups of young people. At least one of them was out buying drinks for their friend. Kids nowadays so happening... Hahah, I can't imagine staying out past 10pm when I was their age.

When I was walking towards Orchard Hotel earlier in the day, I passed by two angmoh teens. A batman-like sports vehicle sped past and they jumped up and chased after it, yelling "AWESOME!" That was funny.

Ooo, I was in Borders and I finally saw the Gnome WoW figurine! It doesn't look as awesome as I thought so I passed on buying it... Borders doesn't hold that attraction for me anymore. Kino has grasped my (consumer/bibliophile) heart.

I have a newfound fondness for ABCs. Their accent is so cute! To think I used to hear it everyday and thought nothing of it. Hahah, I guess novelty is attractive.

I thought that the Hard Rock Cafe had closed down but it turns out I got it mixed up with Planet Hollywood. >_< Misconception after all these years cleared.

Windy and JB looked like brothers today with their similar clothing. Hahah.

I was reading “The Backpacker Bible” today and found there were these things called Round-the-World (RTW) tickets! Wow! I feel so inspired to go on a backpacking trip. Finally, motivation to find a job.

My tie is coming along nicely, the longer rows didn’t curl as I feared. Yay! Seed stitches rock =)

That is all. Also I need to remind myself to post a letter tomorrow (today). Blah, I totally forgot about it today.

As expected, several people didn’t turn up but there was more than enough people. =)

Who came: JB, TY, Stanley, Wilson, KB, CM, WQ, JY, Jessie and me.

Stanley hasn’t uploaded the pictures yet but I’m looking forward to it.

I think I’m really a masochist or have short-term memory loss because I fucking forgot how painful blisters are and brought my new shoes along. Bad idea.

Somehow they got around to talking about the clip “Uses of the word ‘Fuck’” (which I’ve provided below).

What was it about today? First this video (which my friend showed me the other day), then the mention of a guy called Yee Han (first time by Veera). It’s like the echoes of my week are reflected into today.

It’s fun as always although it gets pretty tiring carrying all that stuff. The gown was as hot as expected and we attracted a lot of attention from passerbys. But who cares, right? It was nice to see BM again (who is as pretty as ever).

I also discovered there was an underground tunnel that connected Fullerton Hotel with the One Fullerton carpark place. And I think this was the first time I stepped into Fullerton too.

Places we took pictures at: Grass patch outside Raffles Place MRT, UOB building, bridge to Victoria Hall/Theatre, Fullerton Hotel.

—

There really is a very bad thing to getting too many new shoes at once. The feet suffers the breaking in process manifold. >_< I should really take better care of my feet…

—

Also, I added a new page and a couple of new widgets to the blog. I don’t know if this counts as a strange reason but I’ve found tumblr increasingly cute (almost like a twitter but with no word limit) and I absolutely <3 its interface. I was on a roll posting celebrities/guys I found cute/feeds my fangirl fantasies from the internet. The usual suspects include: Keanu Reeves, Hugh Laurie, Penn, Jon Stewart, Stephen Fry, Jude Law, George Clooney and, most recently, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Hiroshi Tamaki.

Right now it’s invaded by RL bishies but I guess my tumblr blog’s just about whatever images/words/etc catches my fancy.

I can’t decide if I like it or not. On the one hand, I love the creaminess, but the whiskey gets a bit too much after awhile. So have to drink damn slowly. >_> Not saying I’m a guzzler but it takes me awhile to finish less than half a cup. Maybe I should mix it with something else, hahah.

If they had a non-alcoholic Baileys, maybe I’d down it faster, wahahahahahah. I have a weakness for creamy drinks. I still remember with fondness the free French vanilla they dispensed at Crew’s Cafe in Seaworld. Sigh… I’d have it whenever it was cold outside (well, even when it wasn’t hahah). I still remember the day when there was a huge storm (there was a typhoon brewing at the coast, I guess) and I was just soaked to the bone and there was my French vanilla for me. >_< The raincoat, they do nothing >_<. But it was great, something to remember.

I had my commencement today and it was kinda sad since I only knew Melanie, Jon and Darren there. >_< But by some stroke of good luck, she sat right beside me! I really didn’t know any of the other sociology majors. Maybe the ones I do know are all going on to do their honours or they’re my juniors. Or maybe we’re just a big cohort. I was kinda sad not to see my favourite prof there. Ah well, but at least Prof Straughn and Dr. G was there! The valedictorian was funny and said things that sounds more like the kinda things you say to your friends than in front of hundreds of people. But that was cool, hahah. It was less boring than expected (perhaps my expectations were pulled very low by JB, hahah) so I did enjoy the ritualistic aspects of it. And I got to indulge in my weakness for guys in long-sleeved shirts and tie. *Happy ashke*

I also finally went to the IKEA nearby, hahah. I had my favourite meatballs and salmon there (my brother and I shared the 2 plates). Going to the Giant supermarket reminded me of the Wal-marts and other huge supermarkets in the US. I guess I kinda miss WAT after all.

And I’m tired. What is it that’s making me feel so tired these days? Sigh. Going to sleep le. Good night all.

My NUS account was cut off on the 2nd (don’t ask me why). It makes me sad that I’m no longer wanted in the network. Farewell, wonderfully fast Internet (LAN, not wireless).

While googling for fried chicken (since that’s what I’m planning to make for the potluck), I discovered that Alex’s recipe (from Seaworld) for his fried chicken bears close resemblance to the karaage recipes I found online (except for the sugar). Hah, cool. The stuff is delish. Hope I can still make good fried chicken. Maybe I should get some practice in the weekend.

I’m hungry. Hahh…

Gown bag with hanger

All in all spent $52.40 to buy it.

Layz said that M size was too big but I found mine alright. It was only the mortarboard that was a bit too big for me. Collecting the items was quite fast but the lining up took quite awhile (I went around 2pm).

There were some stage photography, degree plagues and photo studios who set up stalls at the end. I think the Co-op was also selling graduation soft toys and NUS shirts/clothes. Look out for the people who were conducting Prudential surveys at the end!

I’m graduating! Hahah. As Dr. Erb would say, this will mark the end of my luminous period between student and graduate (and adult?)

So we had our AGM and MC dinner + Ktv yesterday and it was fun to hang out with all of them for the last time. Sigh, I’m going to miss being in a club like CBLC.

Without someone to open centre, I went over early in the morning to YIH to do so. I had an appointment at 10am to cut my hair and for which I had quite satisfactory results (and it costs $20). Quite a few people complimented my hair. Hmm. Maybe I should try rebonding one of these days. Hahh… We had the AGM in the Staff Club, Aquarius Room with the reception upstairs at the lobby.

I think that it was quite touching for the subcomms from Welfare and Publicity to organize this event. I especially appreciated Jessie’s efforts at the final slides. I’m glad to have seen Andrew and Danny before I went off (forever?!) and also the rest of the subcomms from cells other than training. The food was quite nice too! We had friend rice, veggies in oyster sauce, tofu, sliced beef and chicken, ending with honeydew sago dessert (and also plenty of lychee packet drinks).

The theme for the AGM was “CBLColours That Shine!” and each cell came in a certain colour (red for training). One of the activities we had was for everyone to go up in front for a catwalk, hahhahahahah. It happened to be just nice that there was only me and JY (girl) and Andrew and Danny so we walked out in pairs, ahhah. JY was in her pretty CNY dress. Can’t wait for the pictures to be out. And everyone was absolutely hilarious about it. Wen Phei was very fun as the MC. Heheheh.

Glad that the elections wasn’t short of people to try out for and to see my subcomms all trying for something. We ended off with the slides for the graduating seniors (which included me, sigh) and received gifts and a wonderful poster where people penned something for us.

I think that images are really evocative of memories (like, duh, right? But the thought really struck me as we went through a slideshow of all the activities we had in the year). Haiz, I think I’ll burn a CD of all the pics before I go. (Hahah, and we really had a lot of steamboats!)

When things ended, I went back to change to my nice clothes for the dinner. When I came back we had 2 games of DotA (which I was on the losing team both times!!! GAR!) Then, we took the van to Orchard Hotel. Hahah, it was super squeezy. Kit drove us. I was in the back. Unfortunately, Kenny had a flight to catch (to China!) and couldn’t come with us >_<. But Yongshan met us there! Heheh.

We had a buffet (mostly Thai food and seafood?) Hahah, I was quite stuffed but didn't get as stuffed as I could have. They had mussels, oyster, cold prawns, sashimi, etc and the cooked food was not bad. And they had coconuts to drink! I spent quite some time with the desserts (hurr hurr). Mmm... marshmallow chocolate fondue... I was stuck at the corner of the long table and surrounded by couples >_< hahah. But later on, moved around the table. Everyone had a little belly afterwards, hahaha... We took like a bajillion pictures in the lobby afterwards. Kang Wei said "This is really like prom lor." Hahahh... unfortunately, I never really went for any proms in JC. Oh well. So it's a first time =P

Sigh, going to be the last time in awhile before I see Paul, Jianhong or Kang Wei again. They are going on WAT USA to Yellowstone Park! Hope they have great fun there. =)

We went over to PartyWorld Shenton Way. Pei Yue, Darren and LK came and joined us too. There were 13 of us but it was okay, I got to sing my songs =P I super-<3 Ktv (yeah, it's been awhile since I went for one). <444455555

I think that going to Ktv in a big group is fun since we can watch each others' antics during the whole time. Hahah. And yay, I had two boys around me with the super handsome one (you know who he is) not far away, hahaha =P

We finished around 3am but by the time I got back, it was around 4+am. I went to sleep close to 5am >_<. So what am I doing up so early writing this? There's some construction going on outside my room and it freaking woke me up that's what.

I had great fun yesterday. But it's kinda sad now that I recount all this. It's the laaaaaaast time we can have something like this! I'm going to miss everyone!

Iron Man did not disappoint! Yay! Go watch it people! It’s great =)

Although character name alliterations annoy me, “Pepper Potts” actually sounds kinda cute. Man, I liked her as a character (yes, she’s cute). Just too bad the megalomaniac in the desert died. Sigh. We need more megalomaniac villains around. Stark’s AIs and robots were also so very cuuuuute.

I’m not sure if you’re going to be turned off by my describing this superhero movie as ‘cute’ but it is. So there.

Some trivia I found as I googled Iron Man:

1) Stan Lee was the guy Tony Stark mistakes as Hugh Hefner. Didn’t realize he was so old, heh.
2) Pepper Potts married Happy Hogan (HAHAHA) in the comicverse. PP + HH.
3) Iron Man will be a trilogy.

—

On another note, I saw a girl zaogeng on the bus. She was sitting opposite me. Sigh. Girls, please be careful when you sit in a short skirt, not everyone wants to know you’re wearing neon green panties.

—

My room mate is packing her stuff and moving over to C block for the vacation stay. Sigh… I’m going to have to pack my stuff soon too. Um, but at least I don’t have as much stuff as she does =P

—

Finally, it rained and the night is cool again! YES!
