I stopped watching all forms of television. Even anime and the like.
I still read manga though. In fact, I just found a good one about a man in his thirties who adopted the love child of his grandfather and his mistress. It was about his rapid transition from bachelor to dad… and the everyday concerns of a single parent.
I think that it would be hard to find a TV series about any sort of thing like this without it reverting back to stereotype and too much drama. Even the relatives who pushed around the responsibilities of the taking in the child after the funeral were cast in an understanding light afterward (though of course, it provided the catalyst for the man to take in the child as his own). People… are not one-dimensional and I think that the manga avoided all the possibilities of it falling into that very well.
Furthermore, I still think text provides a better way to present one’s thoughts versus audio-visual. I guess the reason for this is that text can be explicit about what one means whereas one must interpret the intentions of the character which leaves a much more ambiguous understanding of what’s going on.
Okay, so I’m pro-text. Hahah. Sue me.

Now that I think of it, I still read as much as I used to but in a different medium (ie. Internet).
I guess I remain fond of text over audio-visual.

I went back to the QA forums… Hahah… some of the threads describe me so well. LOL. I love the phrase “craving for intimacy”.
